I've used a quilted piece for the background and stitched FAITH, HOPE & LOVE onto osnaburg fabric which is sewn onto the quilt backing.

These are hanging ornies. They have been painted and stained in a coffee/vanilla solution & tied with stained cheesecloth. I've sprinkles German glass glitter on the front only.
Round prim tags that have sayings on both sides with the words hug, kiss and love, are attached to the cheesecloth with rusty safety pins. The hangers are rusty wires fed through the tops of the hearts. They measure approximately 4" long by 3 1/2" wide.

25" PRIMITIVE PATRIOTIC BUNNY WITH FLAG HANGING DOOR GREETER

This is a Patriotic Bunny made from a pattern by Tennessee Ridge Primitives.

The bunny measures 25 inches from head to toe, not including his ears, which have wire in them so they are bendable.

His body is made from stained & treated muslin and stuffed with polyfil.

His clothing is osnaburg cloth. 3 rusty pins with rusty bells attached hold his shirt together.

The flag is also made of osnaburg which I've hand painted. It is attached to a long wooden branch with rusty wire. The branch is attached to bunny's hand with wire and I've sewn the hands together so he doesn't drop his flag! Hands ( paws) are sculpted.

There is a wire attached to the back of bunny's head for hanging.

I've 'painted' his eyes on with prisma pencil. His nose is sculpted, mouth is hand stitched and whiskers are rusty wires.

Bunny doll is signed and dated.

Cat stands12 1/2 inches high.

He was made from a pattern by Tennessee Ridge Primitives.

His body is made from coffee stained muslin which I've painted with black acrylic and sanded down for an 'olde' worn look, which was then rubbed with cinnamon. It is stuffed with polyester filling and also weighted with sand, so it does stand on it's own.

Eyes are sewn on buttons. Nose & mouth are hand stitched. Whiskers are coiled rusty wires.
I've wrapped a rusty wire collar around his neck with two rusty bells attached.

The cat's pocket is made from an old quilt that I've stained and hand sewn on. It is filled with Sweet Annie, cranberry Gypsy grass and coiled red and white pip berries.

It's been awhile since I listed a new item as I've been busy filling orders for customers. A family friend ordered 2 gingerbread dolls and these were fun to make so I thought I'd make one for my selling blog too. The doll pattern is by Sweetmeadows Farm. The lillipop is my own.

Doll measures 14 inches and lillipop measures 7 1/2 inches

Lollipop is not attached, but upon request I can sew it to the doll's hand.

Doll is made from muslin, stuffed with polyester and painted. Collar is made from warm 'n natural and I've sewn a salt dough heart button to it.

Her nose is stitched and eyes are done with prismacolor pencils and sprayed with a matte clear finish so it won't smudge. Mouth, eyebrows and lashes are done with a fine point permanent marker.

Lollipop is made from muslin and stuffed with polyester. It's been painted and sanded and has a sprinkling of German glass glitter. It's tied off with a red and white gingham bow.

Doll's head, hands and feet have painted icing.

Her apron is full of happy lil gingerbread folk.

This is an adorable shelf sitter doll with a heart shaped head and face. Her head and body are made from a burgundy and cream colored striped fabric. She's been weighted with sand and then stuffed with polyester filling.

Her face is also heart shaped and made from felt. Her eyebrows, nose and mouth are hand stitched and her eyes are tiny black buttons which have been sewn on.

I've attached an ecru colored crochet collar and sewed a yo yo flower button to the center.

A burgundy colored felt heart is hand stitched to her lower body with a white flower button sewn in the center.

Her arms and legs are dozens of multi colored buttons.

She is as cute as a 'button' and will sit on the edge of a shelf without having to be propped.

She measures 10 inches from head to bottom of body - and a total of 16 inches including button legs.

1776 AMERICANA PRAIRIE DOLL WITH SHEEP

It's been awhile since I posted a new item but I'd not been feeling well the past 4 weeks, with a virus of some sort that just would not let go. Just when I thought I was getting better, it would come back with a vengeance. This weekend I finally felt a bit better so made a new Americana Prairie Doll.

She measures 25 inches long. She is wearing an Americana themed dress. The bodice is red and white stripes with tiny blue stars. The skirt is red and white striped with red stars and blue waved stripes between each star. The dress is heavily stained to give it an olde thyme look. The dress no longer looks 'white'. Her apron is made of stained muslin and I've hand stitched 1776 on the pocket, which is filled with some Sweet Annie. The bonnet is also stained muslin.

She is holding a sheep that measures 10 inches tall. He is made from stained muslin, his muzzle and tail are painted black. I've sewn a rusty bell onto his neck and he has sticks for legs.

Yay! I Figured It Out!

I had an EZshoppe for 5 years. This last year it did not make one sale for me. It was up for renewal in December and I just let it lapse. I do have my own domain name kklprimitives.com and that will be up for renewal in April. That was directed to the EZshoppe so if anyone typed that in their browser they would have seen nothing. Zip. Nada. It was gone. So I figured I would just have the domain name forwarded to my KKL Primitives selling blog - here. Sounds easy enough. Problem was, I couldn't remember my account number or the password. I had them in a folder in my old email addy ( Comcast) which I had forwarded to my Hotmail addy before I got my new email addy ( Verizon)........and spent a good hour trying to locate it. Sounds like it should have been simple enough, but I had forwarded hundreds (slight exaggeration) of things I needed to keep and it took me awhile to locate what I needed. I finally got signed in to the Domain hosting site - had to change my email address so I would get the notice in April when my payment was due. I was able to easily forward my domain name from the EZshoppe to my selling blog URL. It could have taken anywhere from 24-48 hours for the forwarding to take effect, but within 20 minutes it was done! If you type kklprimitives.com into your browser now it will bring you right here! Cool! :)
We had a water main break down at the end of our street a couple hours ago. Dummy me didn't think ahead and fill up pans with water. I made spaghetti sauce and was filling up a pan for the noodles when I noticed our water pressure was really BAD. Luckily as I finished filling the pan, the water just stopped coming out of the faucet. We'll get to eat, but I won't be able to do dishes, finish the laundry, flush the toilet. . . I really should have known better.

This is a 24 inch tall doll that I fashioned after a pattern by You Are Special.
The doll is made from tea stained muslin and stuffed with polyester filling.
Her dress is a navy blue and pink floral calico with gathered sleeves.
The apron and hat are made from tea stained muslin. The pocket in the apron is filled with sweet Annie.
Attached to the doll is a stuffed heart. The front is a burgundy colored quilted fabric, the back is burgundy and white plaid homespun. The heart is tied with a tea stained length of cheesecloth.
A heart shaped key is pinned to the heart by a rusty
safety pin.
I've added a loop of floss at the back of the doll's neck for hanging.

This is a 24 inch prairie doll. I adapted her from a pattern by You Are Special Patterns called Hannah's Christmas Tree. You will notice however, there is no tree. Instead, I've attached a quilted heart with a heart shaped skeleton key, held by a rusty safety pin.

Hannah has been tea stained and stuffed with polyester filling. She was made in my smoke free and pet free home.

Her dress is made from a pink floral calico fabric, which has been tea stained.

Her apron and bonnet are made from tea stained muslin. I've stitched on her pocked which is filled with Sweet Annie. Her bonnet is attached with jute.

I adapted these from a pattern by Palette Primitives. The dolls measure approximately 6 inches high ( not including the witch hat). They are made from tea stained muslin and stuffed with polyester filling. They are weighted with sand and will stand alone. You may have to adjust the sand with your fingers after shipping, since they will be jostled around.

Our Spring doll is a cute lil bunny! This says EASTER to me. She's wearing a light and airy tan and cream homespun dress and a yo-yo flower on her ear.

HANGING GOOSE

A customer requested a hanging goose and I used a pattern from Hidden In The Attic.

She liked the goose so much that she ordered another one!

This is her second order, and I'm using the photo to show for potential orders.

The photo above is the 'front' of the goose.

The goose measures 23 inches long. The wings are 'quilted' and the tail is stuffed.

The photo below is the underside of the goose. I've used tree twigs as the legs/feet and attached them to the goose with embroidery floss. The legs are tied together with jute.

The goose is hung by the lower X of the legs. If you prefer to hang goose so that legs show, then just attach rusty wire hanger to jute for hanging.

Mom's Nutmeg Cake

My younger sister Donna called me last night to get our Mom's nutmeg cake recipe. YUM, I haven't made it in quite some time, but now I HAVE to, my mouth is watering for it and it's only 9:30 am!!!
This cake is too good not to share. It is NOT a moist cake, but what you put on top makes up for it, and the cake also tastes yummy without anything on top at all, with a cup of coffee, tea or milk.

NUTMEG CAKE
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk**
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla pinch of salt
**substitute for buttermilk: add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar OR lemon juice to measuring cup. Then add your milk to fill line. Let stand 5 minutes before using.

Topping
1 boxes of vanilla or banana pudding ( We always used the kind you cook but you can certainly use instant).
Slice up 2 bananas and mix with pudding. Just spoon as much as you like over each cut piece of cake. I come from a family of 9 so we always made at least 2 packages of pudding and added more banana.

This is a great witches hat to use as decor for the Halloween season!

It was adapted from a Moonchilds Primitives pattern.

Hat measures 14 1/2 inches high and 11 1/2 inches wide at the brim.

The hat is made from muslin which I've painted, stained and rubbed with cinnamon to give it an old worn look. The hat is tied off with a stained cheesecloth bow and a large rusty bell has been sewn onto the tip of the hat. Some Sweet Annie has been tucked into the cheesecloth band.

Spanish moss is attached as a nest for the old black crow that sits on a cloth pumpkin which has also been stained. A rusty wire collar is attached to the painted crow with a tag that reads

This adorable lil Raggedy and her bunny were adapted from a pattern by Cat & The Fiddle designs.

The doll measures 22 inches long and the bunny 10 1/2 inches.

Raggedy has been coffee/vanilla stained.

The dolls blouse and pantaloons match, they are royal blue with a pink and rose colored roses calico fabric.

The skirt is a really cute country barn fabric with roosters, sunflowers, a tractor, chickens & apple trees.

Lil Raggedy has very curly red hair, big button eyes and a felt nose.

I made her bunny from an old cut up chenille bedspread. It’s been stained with coffee & vanilla for an old worn look. Bunny has a ’boo-boo’ on her leg so Raggedy bandaged it up with a a piece of cloth she tore from an old pair of her bloomers.

This is a great wall/door hanger for the Autumn season.

I’ve adapted this from a pattern by Chestnut Junction.

It measures 15 inches high from the top of the stem.

The pumpkin is made from orange homespun fabric that I’ve stuffed with polyester filling and stained to give it an ’olde’ and worn look.

The stem is a real branch from one of my trees. I’ve wrapped two rusty wire tendrils around the base of the stem.

The crow is made from muslin, stuffed and painted, sanded and stained. He has a tie of stained cheesecloth and I’ve tucked some Sweet Annie inside.

There is a wire hanger on the back.

This is one HAPPY scarecrow!

He's been attached to a painted and slightly distressed candle holder.

His hair is raffia,his nose is homespun and his smiling mouth is jute which I've hand stitched.

He's good at his job, which is shooing away those pesky crows that bother your corn crop.

He wears his hat proudly and hopes his disarming smile will entice you to purchase him for your country / prim home.

Scarecrow nodder measures 19 inches high from top of hat to bottom of candle holder.

SNOWMEN ICICLE ORNIES - SET OF 3

I just love these! They are made from my own pattern. You will receive all 3 ornies. They measure 12 inches long from tip of hat to bottom of icicle.

They are made from polyester filled muslin which I've lightly stained. Their eyes are sewn on beads and their noses and smiles are hand stitched.

The hats are formed from old baby socks that I stained and 2 little rusty bells are attached to each one.

They are wearing scarves of homespun and their lower bodies are glittered with mica.

These look adorable on the Christmas tree!

If you love snowmen with large red noses, then this cute 'lil guy is perfect for you!

He's one of my own original designs and measures 9 1/2 inches high.

He is made from coffee stained muslin & stuffed with polyester filling.
His eyes are two beads, nose is burgundy felt which I've hand stitched on. He has a sprinkling of mica glitter across his nose and his mouth is stitched.

He's wearing a scarf of red, blue and cream plaid, that's tied in a bow at his neckline. His pocket is also a red, blue and plaid homespun ( different fabric) which is hand stitched to his plump body. The pocket is filled with 2 stained chenille candy canes, Sweet Annie and red and white pip berries and a cinnamon stick.

His tag reads I LUV SNOW, with the U replaced by a heart. I've sprinkled some mica glitter on the tag as well.

What a great gift this prim 'lil snowman would make for someone or keep it for yourself!
